What is the Bronx Steam Center?

The Bronx STEAM Center is an innovative career and technical training hub for 11th and 12th grade students, immersed within a robust industry environment, which prepares a pipeline of talented young adults who will thrive in the rapidly evolving healthcare, manufacturing, technology, and creative fields.  At Bronx STEAM, students will engage in high quality CTE classes aligned to innovative and emerging industries, as well as engage in professional internships, develop robust and real industry networks, and explore tangible pathways to economic opportunity, all within the Hutchinson Metro Center - a 42-acre professional, industrial park that houses over 200 businesses right here in the Bronx, including the Albert Einstein
Medical College and Montefiore.  Partner high schools focus on core academics while Bronx STEAM prepares students in career and technical education.  STEAM Center students train for two years in one of six high demand fields.  At the start, Montefiore will be the premier launch partner with Bronx STEAM, with students enrolled in CTE classes that will result in a CTE diploma as well as industry certificates in the healthcare field such as nursing and medical billing.   For example. students who successfully complete the two-year course in Healthcare can graduate high school with a CTE diploma and hold a certificate in Phlebotomy or Hospital Coding.  Below is a snapshot that highlights student pathways in the healthcare field.
